DISCUSSION ESSEY! (obtiatibe english class)
“Super size me”

Feeding badly: The fast food!

Most of people in our world prefer eating in faster and cheaper places like Mc Donald's or other burgers without knowing that this food is very bad for their health. This food contains a very hight percentage of calories and sugar. Even the salads contains a lot of calories, sometimes more than a little piece of hamburger.
Nonetheless I think that isn't necessary to sue this companies because costumers aren't obligated to buy this kind of food and eat it.
Now they eliminated the supersizes of their menus, and that's very good for the health of the costumers, because the consequences of eating more of that food reduce the cardiac frequency, you start to feel more tired, and you gain weight.
Well, the best that you can do if you like this food is to go in that places once a month, or every two weeks. So if you control what you eat, nothing has to happened!

Comments about an advert (obtative english class)

THINGS YOU COMMENT FOR YOUR ADVERT:

This advert is for all people who look for some service, and who know how to read and use the phone. It’s a little stupid and makes you laugh because it’s unusual to see a boy dancing happily with a fridge. It’s an attractive advert. It's an influential advert because at first you don’t think that the product is “paginas amarillas”. We choose this advert because it's a very ironic advert and it’s very well made.

SOUND AND MUSIC:

The music is romantic, and the song is very popular called “I can’t live without you” by Tony Braxton. This song express to the people the necessity to use this service, and we can see it reading the lyric “I can’t live without you”. It’s slow and it express the love that he feels for the “yellow pages” because it gives him his fridge.

SPECIAL EFFECTS, SYMBOLS, LOGO AND COLOUR

The epitome of the fridge when it can roller ice-skate, like a person.
The colours that dominate in the advert are blue and white colors, because they express to us the feeling of a cold.
At the end of the advert appears the logo of the “páginas amarillas” company. It’s presented with a yellow bright colour, with black words on the down of the screen.

PEOPLE AND ACTIONS

In this advert there only appears a young man, David Sánchez, and he’s a famous ice skater since with through this way you only concentrate in the actions and the feelings between David and the fridge.
He appears inn this topic because the fridge simbolizes cold electrodomestic and the man roller on the ice, and the place represents the intern world of the fridge.

LANGUAGE

There appears a slogan before the logo of paginas amarillas. You can see the sentence “felices encuentros” and another of the services that are associated with this advert.
The words get more of our attention of the logo “paginas amarillas” because at first we thought that was an advert about fridges.
The language appears only for giving importance and contrast for the words that you can see in the end of the advert.

My Oral Presentation

Topic: NIGHTCLUBS

*Have you ever been into a discotheque?*
A nightclub is a drinking, dancing and entertainment venue which does it's primary bussines after dark.
A nightclub is usually distinguished from bars, pubs or taverns, by the inclusion of a dance floor and a DJ booth, where a DJ plays recorded dance and pop music. Some nightclubs have other forms of entertainment, such as comedians, “go-go” dancers, a floor show or strippers.
Nightclubs often feature lighting and other effects, to enhance the dancing experience. Lighting and effects include flashing colored lights, moving light beams, laser light shows, storbe lights, mirror-covered disco balls, or foam, and smoke machines.
Nightclub hours vary widely; in areas with liquor regulations in place, nightclubs may stay open until 1 AM or even 6 AM. In some cities, illegal “after hours” clubs stay open and serve alchol after the legal closing time. In non-regulated areas, nightclubs stay open legally all night and into early daylight hours.
Variant types of nightclubs include non-smoking and alcohol-free nightclubs.
“under-18” clubs are nightclubs which hold liquor-free dances for teens from 14 to 18 years of age.
Nightclubs are usually build in former warehouses and cinemas, underground buildings, and custom-built buildings, with thick, insulated walls and few or no windows, so that the neighboring buildings will not be disturbed by the powerful beat of the dance music and the flashing strobe lights.
Sometimes one only gets a pay card at the entrance, on which all money spend in the discotheque is marked. Sometimes entrance free and wardrobe costs are paid by cash and only the drinks in the club are paid using a pay card.
*now we are going to show to you some of the more important and knowing nightclubs of the region:
. HOT FATA. From saint peter fisherman
. PACHA. From Empuriabrava
. CHICK DELUXE. From Rosas.
. VIVA. From empuriabrava
. PONT AERI. From st. Saloni
. MILLENIUM. From Sils
well that's all, do you have any questions???

Composition (obtative english class)

"Drugs and online games are two major forms of addiction for young people today"
Today a lot of young people like to spend their free time playing with online games with their computers. I think that isn't very bad for them because with most of games you can talk with anoter people and play in a same time , and including in some occasion tey are good for improve our habilities of attention.
but on the other hand I believe that if you spend more time with these games it can be bad for your health. Unfortunatell, some young people, maybe 12 to 15 years old are very addicted to this games and they become them in their second real life.
In this cases, the people lose their social life, and their friends, and usually downed their level in the school.
Another form of addiction to young people are the drugs, and they frecuently take them for fun, and because they think that if consumed these substances they can enjoy better their free time.
I think that these are a mortal substance, and drugs can be worse that the online games, because they can change all yourself and yourlife.
In conclusion I think that both of them are dangerous for ourselfes, you can play online games, of course, but not spending more of four hours in front of you PC playing. And about the drugs, the best is not to taste anything about that.

composition: "computers have made the world a better place"

Nowadays most people have a computer in their houses, and they us it for work or for spending their free time. At first this machine only could do a few and simple things but with the time and the high tecnlogy it became more necessary for all people.
I think that computers have made the worldbetter place because with them you can find information about everything, have and listen to music that you want, surf internet and by things without the need of leaving your home, and have friends from all the world.
But I agree that the exessive use of the computers make the people unsosiable, especially the young ones. More teenagers have discovered in their computer another world with funny and at the same time addictive games or chats, and they base their life only on it. sometimes it causes an unsiciable society of young people and that can be other causes of the childhood obesity too.
So, my conclusion is that the computers help to make our lives easier and better, but it isn't healthy that you have based your live only on them, and find othe ways to do the things.

wellcome e-mail to a teacher:

Hi lourdes!! How are you? I'm sad for the end of the summer, it was so short for me, the days passed very fast when you are in relax, without work and worries. Well, this summer I wanted to find a job, but my parents needed someone who look after my brother because they have been worked during all the day, and they paid to me for do that. The first day of second baxillerat, after the summer holydays, in general was normal except the thing that I had to wake up more early than other days, but now I'm accustomed to this routine again.. I think that second baxillerat will be more difficult than the first because we have more history for study, and this year we have to do the research work. For the research work I chose the topic about greek subject. I have to find in art pictures the similar with the greek myths, and describe them. Now, i haven't done many things of the work yet, but I think that in two or three months I have the possibility to finish it.The best thing for me about this year is that we haven't do gymnastics, but I don't like the two hours that we have on thursday afternoon, because we only go to a class for one hour, in the second we have to do tutoria. well in this year I continued with the same idea about study for a lawyer, in the university of Girona, so I'll try to have better marks than last year and pass the selectivitat, too.

and the answere was:

Hi my dear Claudia,so you want to be a lawyer, that's really good, lawyers, nowadays, will never lose their jobs because there so many things to deal with that families, businesses and individuals need a lawyer close to themWish you the best of luck for this year, I like the topic you have chosen for your research project, it's really interesting!!
bye for now
see you

HALLOWEEN FILM TASK: the Others.

1. The title. what does it refer to?
the title of this film refers to the people who after death sitll live in the house, the spirits.

2. the setting. in the first scenes of films, directors generally present the location of the film and set an atmosphere to create a given mood or feeling. neme the elements chosen by Amenábar to enhance the horror atomsphere. would you like to add any more.
the elements are the fog, the old house, the darkness, the cementery behind the house, and an old women.

3. the time. when is the filme set? how does the director tell/show the audience?
I think that the director tries to tell the audience that a person never dies, so his/her spirit is alive wherever.

4. the cast.
Grace is the mother of the family, in her house she feels alone and she hopes to see her husband again. She doesn't know that she's dead. She doesn't want her children to see the unlight of the day. And she educates them with the Bible.
I don't think that she's mad because she doesn't know her real situation, that's the reason why she does more strange things, for example she doesn't open one door before closing another first.
Anne and Nicholas are the kids of the family. Their health condition isn't very good because their mother doesn't let them see the sunlight and they have to live in the dark. The children have to obey their mother all the time, but finally, they decided to leave the house by themselves.
Mrs Mills, Mr Tutle and Lydia are the housekeepers of the house. They died a century ago, and they know that. They stay with Grase and help her she see that she's dead.
Alejandro Amenábar is the director of the film. other films by this director are "Nadie conoce a nadie", "la lengua de las mariposas" and "tesis".
He was 29 years old when he directed "the Others". This film won a "Goya" for the best film, the prize for the best director, for the best dialogue, and the nomination for the best music band.

5. Can the Others be considered a representative of gothic fiction?
The Others can be considered a Gothic fiction film because the story happens in an old and big house in the middle of the mountain, and behind it there is a cementery. It's a dark film, with psycological fear, where the characters wear black old clothes and the main topic is the death, or the things that happen after death.
